What is Hypnosis? Hypnosis is a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. It is like using a magnifying glass to focus the rays of the sun and make them more powerful. Similarly, when our minds are concentrated and focused, we are able to use our minds more powerfully...Recent research supports the view that hypnotic communication and suggestions effectively changes aspects of the person's physiological and neurological function."
(American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, www.asch.net) Clinical Hypnotherapy: Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based therapy with over 70,000 research references worldwide. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis for therapeutic purposes, allowing beneficial corrections to be given directly to the subconscious mind. Hypnosis is an effective way to make contact with our inner self, which is a reservoir of unrecognised potential and knowledge, and the source of many of our problems. Clinical Hypnotherapy uses advanced hypnosis techniques to resolve behavioral and psychological problems and draws from multiple forms of therapy, such as the following (please click on the title for an explanation of the therapy):
Transpersonal Therapy: Transpersonal Therapy takes a holistic approach in addressing mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs. To facilitate healing and growth, Transpersonal Therapy places great emphasis on honesty, open-mindedness, and self-awareness on the part of the therapist as well as the client. As a Transpersonal Therapist I take the experiences in your life as signposts to guide you to a more authentic experience of yourself that can transform your life not only on the personal level, such as career and relationships, but that will also help you connect with the authentic part of yourself, the part that gives your life meaning. Ironically, the more we run from experiencing our feelings, the further the divide between our authentic selves and our survival selves. It's your connection to your authentic self that will allow you to make lasting changes in your life. As a Transpersonal & Clinical Hypnotherapist I use an holistic approach. If you come to me for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, pain management, etc., I will focus not only on your psychological situation and needs, but I will also take into account your social, physical, environmental, and spiritual needs. No one lives in a cocoon. We all have basic human needs that must be met in order to achieve happiness in our lives, as well as psychological and environmental needs. I address you as a whole person when assessing how to best help you achieve your goal(s). As stated above, I will use a variety of methods to help you change your situation, from traditional Talk Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that engages the Conscious Mind, to hypnotherapy methods that engage the Subconscious Mind, such as hypnosis, parts therapy, age regression, Brainspotting, EMDR, past-life regression, rewind, visualization, etc.. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I have learned the invaluable contribution the Subconscious Mind makes to our feelings, our problems, and our lives and that is the main source I use to help my clients. I am also trained in crosscultural and crossreligious therapeutic perspectives and will consider the community and culture of my clients including work, friends, and family, as well as their spiritual/religious beliefs. I follow the philosophy and practice of Positive Psychology and the Strengths Model, as well as Brief Therapy. This means I will help you see the positive aspects of your self and your life at a time when you may not be able to find them, and I will help you do a reality check of who you are by identifying your strengths, abilities, and talents. My ultimate goal is to help you achieve the results you want as quickly as possible. This work is a collaborative adventure. I do not diagnose or make your decisions for you. I will assess your situation and recommend certain therapy approaches. You are the leader and I follow your lead. My role is to guide, encourage, and assist you in that process. |
